How to Choose

We ask you to choose your subjects carefully. At least three considerations are necessary when choosing your subjects: What do I like? What am I good at? Which subjects do I need to be accepted to my favorite post-secondary program? When choosing your subjects, it is important that you talk to your IB Coordinator or your student counsellor.

Each of the 6 subject groups must be represented in your choice. However, you may substitute the last category, the Arts, for an additional subject in group 2, 3 or 4. You must choose 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at Standard Level (SL); however, you must choose 4 HL subjects if you choose Math at HL.

Please note: the definite number of courses and levels depends on student choices and schedule considerations.
