Another three core elements are included in the IB diploma programme:
Theory of Knowledge (TOK): |
An interdisciplinary course about the nature of knowledge. The course covers 100 hours, which amounts to two lessons a week. |
Creativity, Action, Service (CAS): |
Encourages the student to take active part in the local community. Over the two diploma years, the student must do 150 hours of CAS. |
The Extended Essay (EE): |
Gives the student the opportunity to expand his or her knowledge of a subject of special interest. The extended essay should be written during the summer holidays between the first and the second diploma year. |
